I won’t lie to you; this was a rough week for me. Between an incredibly ill-timed bout of anxiety, and getting actually sick from the depression that came from that anxiety, all I wanted was comfort and something that could play in the background while I don’t pay attention, except of course Friends is no longer on Netflix so I was SOL.
This, however, does not read well for this blog. I don’t put YouTube videos on here, and essentially all I watched was new Good Mythical Morning, and old Markiplier Let’s Plays.

I did manage, however, to watch 3 episodes of October Faction, a new Netflix series about parents who are secretly monster hunters and their kids. Besides an incredibly out-of-left-field scene of homophobia and bullying, it’s generally really enjoyable. The drama is good but not too dark, there’s humor, and spooky monsters masquerading as real people! I’m definitely planning on seeing this one through.
After getting drunk on Friday, I decided to rewatch one of my favorite Disney animated movies of all time: The Princess & The Frog (2009). People really sleep on this one, and while I agree it doesn’t help much in Disney’s need for more diversity, it’s still incredible on its own. I wish Disney would do more traditionally animated films, rather than the CGI they’re currently obsessed with. I miss this.
Something new to me, I also watched Mr. Boogedy (1986), what I hope was a Disney Channel Original Movie. It’s about a family that moves into a house that’s haunted by an old pilgrim who sold his soul to the devil for a magical cloak after a widowed woman did not want to marry him, so that he could kidnap her young child, which ends up killing all three of them. Rough stuff.

The worst part of this movie was the fact that the family owned a franchised practical gag shop, so the dad was constantly trying to pull pranks on the children, who were very clearly terrified of this house. Father of the year, am I right?
It’s a short one, clocking in at around the 45 minute mark, so it didn’t feel like a waste to watch, though I have to wonder if this is how other people feel watching a classic like Smart House (1999) if they didn’t grow up with it (a movie which I, personally, consider to be a national treasure).
I feel like I’m falling into a watching rut, so please please PLEASE comment below any television show/movie recommendations for me!

The Princess & The frog

YES I’ve seen this movie before and YES I think it’s a problem that the only black Disney princess is a frog for 3/4 of the movie but ALSO I think this movie is gorgeous AND I think Tiana is a fantastic character
Mr. Boogedy

If I was that teenage daughter, I would have emancipated myself from that family already because like it’s incredibly clear how little the dad cares about her and how little the mom pays attention to her

The chilling adventures of Sabrina on Netflix! And Miss Americana 😉
